Jim Moorefield--Advocate for Social Justice Awardee

For years CARDV and Jim had been working to coordinate services to survivors, specifically the great need of home security for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking. In 2012 the newest WNHS complex, Alexander Court, was built in conjunction with the CARDV Advocacy Center. Ten (of the twenty-four) units priority-place survivors of domestic violence. The CARDV Advocacy Center provides additional resources for survivors, as well as an easy-to-find location where multiple services are centrally located.
When presented with the Advocate for Social Justice Award Jim graciously accepted:
“I was fortunate to have been raised in a loving home, where I always felt safe, and I enjoyed all the benefits of my family's stability and financial security. As I came of age and began to see the suffering and injustice in the world, the only thing that made any sense to me was to do what I could to bring more balance to a world full of disparity. My current career in affordable housing is a logical place to be because I know first-hand how much home matters. As a man it has also meant trying to be of some modest service to the women of CARDV whom I have admired so much and for so long for your continuing efforts to address violence against women. You are my heroes and to be recognized by you with this award means more to me than you'll ever know. Thank you.”
